Each Kibosh Router is tested before its shipped.

So that when you get your Kibosh Router, all you need to do is plug it in and it will work.

Which means that 99% of the time, the issue is on your end: either your network and / or your ISP equipment.

TIPS:

Always test from multiple devices.

How to test: browse to test.kibosh.net

Troubleshooting Steps:

Issue: Unable to access the internet.

If you cannot access the Internet – the issue is that your ISP’s modem is not allowing Kibosh Router through.

OR, your ISP internet is down.

  1. Reboot Kibosh + Modem + PC
    1. Double-check you have ethernet cables plugged into correct ports (modem –> Kibosh WAN)
  2. Wait 3-5 minutes and test (make sure your PC is connected to Kibosh’s Wi-Fi or LAN)
  3. Still no internet?
    1. Repeat step 1 a few times.
    2. Still no internet?
      1. Call your ISP and ask them to ‘reset my modem’ which they will do remotely
        1. Still no internet?
          1. Plug another Wi-Fi router in – if it works then the issue is again with your ISP equipment not talking to the Kibosh. Solution: purchase your own modem (and save money each month) or switch to KiboshDNS.
          2. Open a ticket with Kibosh Support.

Issue: intermittent problems: some devices work, some don’t, some websites work, some don’t…

Your network is not right.

OR, your internet security / parental control settings are too strict.

NOTE: You should only have two internet access devices: 1) your ISP Modem, 2) Kibosh Router.

  1. Turn off all range extenders & extra wireless routers (if you have any)
  2. Unplug anything you have connected into the Kibosh’s LAN ports (we’ll put them back shortly)
  3. Unplug the Modem + Kibosh Router
  4. Re-plug the Modem + Kibosh Router (aka, reboot them)
  5. Reboot your PC and EVERYTHING DEVICE that is having issues
  6. Wait 3 – 5 minutes.
  7. Now test  – you should be all set.
    1. Re-attach ethernet port devices
    2. Re-attach your range extenders > one at a time, making sure they are hooked into the correct Wi-Fi
      • Do not use the 5Ghz Wi-Fi with range extenders
  8. ISSUES PERSIST?
    1. On any device you are still having issues with – on that device, manually check it’s connected to the Kibosh’s WiFi.
      • If it’s connected to 5Ghz – change to the other W-Fi because 5Ghz has a much shorter range. The non-5GHz wifi has a much longer range and always works.
  9. Log into Dash.Kibosh.net
    1. Go to Manage Device > Schedule Internet Access, and remove all rules > Save Changes
    2. Go to Web Filter > Blacklist > remove any domains > Save Changes
    3. Go to Web Filter > Categories > uncheck EVERYTHING except ‘search engines’ > Save Changes
    4. Wait 5 – 15 minutes for changes to replicate
  10. You should be all set.
  11. Still having issues?
    1. Reset the firmware (easy, takes about 5 min):
      1. Dash > Manage Device > Upgrade Firmware
        • Choose only the ‘Upgrade Firmware’ option
        • Click ‘Yes’ to proceed
        • Wait five minutes
